Greetings from martial
Hi piggies,
This is my first ever blog entry. Frankly speaking, I don’t have the habit of putting my everyday thoughts into writing. Nevertheless, I have taken this first step for the sake of this pigclan publication. Now pardon me for my bad English, I’m not a professional blogger like Fairy pig, or regular blogger like Lame pig. Neither am I a mass comm. student like Top pig. I don’t have the “flair” for writing, but here goes my day…
Location: home sweet home
Activity: reading
Well, I spent the last couple of days reading a book given to me by Tycoon pig (thanks tycoon pig!) as a Christmas gift. I have been putting off reading the book since last year due to overwhelming homework (and partly due to laziness). The title of the book is The Fifth Mountain by Paulo Coelho. Reading the preview at the back of the book, I assume that it was the usual English novel set in the war torn world. The note from the author looks okay and the prologue sounds fine. So I started reading the story. The first paragraph was a dialogue between two men and it goes like this:
“I have served a Lord who now abandons me into the hands of my enemies,” said Elijah.
“God is God,” the Levite replied.
Oh oh… it’s a book on …. God. Maybe Tycoon pig doesn’t know, but I’m not a Christian. So why did he gave me a book on Christianity? I find it amusing but I continued reading the book anyway. And guess what, by the end of the day I was really inspired! Kudos to the author and translator! And big thanks to Tycoon pig for recommending the book. It has renewed my faith in god and I’m really glad to say that I have a deeper understanding of my religion after reading the book, even though it is in a different context. On top of that I’m spurred on to write this entry expressing my hope and inspirations.
Coincidentally I read an article on the papers today on the on-going dispute in the Middle East. A group of professors from Israel and Pakistan have gathered in NUS for a dialogue session, and they have expressed hope that peace in the Middle East is finally on the horizon. This was the exact same issue that the book was trying to convey.
*spring goose pimples*
On a lighter note, today is May Day so Happy Holidays to all piggies!! To those piggies already in the work force, enjoy your day off!!!
So long!
Martial Pig
P.S: Top pig, your previous entry was hilarious! I can’t believe you actually wrote an essay worth of stuff on something that you aren’t. Lol!
